Robert K. Lincoln represents public and private clients in all aspects of the land development process, with a focus on complex land use and zoning approvals and litigation. In addition to representing private landowners, developers and neighbors, he also currently serves as special land use counsel to both the Pinellas Planning Counsel and the City of Seminole. A member of the Florida Bar since 1994, Mr. Lincoln's land use law practice is supported by an extensive academic and professional background focused on planning, zoning, and growth management issues. His prior positions include: Associate Professor of Urban and Regional Planning at Michigan State University; Senior Research Associate at the FAU/FIU Joint Center for Environmental and Urban Problems; Adjunct Professor of Urban Planning, Florida Atlantic University; Adjunct Professor of Planning, Florida State University; Policy Analyst for the Florida Governor's Environmental Lands Management Study (ELMS III) Committee; Policy Analyst for the Florida Legislature's Joint Select Committee on Growth Management Implementation; Associate Planner with Sarasota County. In addition, Mr. Lincoln has written extensively on land use issues, and his work has been published by the American Planning Association, the American Bar Associations' Urban Lawyer, Stetson Law Review, the Journal of Land Use and Environmental Law, and the Florida Bar Journal. Mr. Lincoln's writings have been cited by courts, other attorneys, and in white papers, policy papers, and scholarly articles, and he has been recognized as an expert witness in judicial and administrative proceedings. He lectures frequently to professional associations on land use topics. Mr. Lincoln currently publishes a weblog that covers Florida land use and zoning decisions and issues, at www.flalandlaw.com/landblog. In addition to his work in the area of growth management and planning, Mr. Lincoln also has served in a number of marketing related positions in technology companies. He helped launch several start up companies and technology products. In 2001, he was named a "DEMO God" at the prestigious DEMO Mobile conference, where he helped Sarasota's Copytalk launch its eponymous mobile service. Mr. Lincoln received a bachelor's degree in Political Science from New College of Florida, a Master of Science in Planning from Florida State University, and a J.D. with high honors from Florida State University College of Law. Mr. Lincoln has served as a Director of the New College Alumni Association since 1997 and was recently appointed to the Board of Directors of the Downtown Partnership. He first moved to Sarasota in 1977 and has resided here continually since 1996. He is a lifelong sailor and boater. |
